Imerslund-Gräsbeck Syndrome (IGS), also known as Selective Intestinal Cobalamin Malabsorption (ICM), is a disorder in which the intestines fail to absorb enough Vitamin B12. This variant, found in the Beagle, is caused by a recessive mutation to the gene CUBN. Similar variants also occur in the Border Collie and Komondor.
Caractéristiques cliniques
Symptoms for dogs affected by IGS can include lethargy, poor apetite and discomfort after eating, which can additonally result in in poor growth and/or weight loss. Urinary analysis may also reveal increased protein levels in the urine.
