Hereditary Necrotising Myelopathy (HNM or ENM) is a degenerative neural disease. The disorder is found in the Dutch Kooiker (Kooikerhondje) and is caused by a recessive mutation to the gene IBA57.
Caractéristiques cliniques
Affected dogs generally start displaying symptoms at approximately 4 years of age, though individual cases can start as early as 6 months or as late as 10 years. Symptoms of HNM include difficulty getting up and standing, a stiff and sometimes painful gait, muscle weakness, difficulty eating and drinking, excessive drooling, anorexia, depression and an altered voice.
