Informations générales
Calcium/calmodulin-dependent serine protein kinase (CASK) is a protein involved in the development of the links between nerves and muscles. In pigeons, a mutation to the CASK gene has been connected to improved racing ability. This makes the mutation a useful performance marker.
Caractéristiques cliniques
Wild rock pigeons all have the normal G/G genotype. Many homing pigeons have at least one copy of the mutant A allele.
