Informations générales
Adult onset neuropathy (AON) is a recessive neurological disorder found in the English Cocker Spaniel and Field Spaniel. The disease causes a gradual loss of coordination and limb strength in older dogs. It has a recessive mode of inheritance.
Caractéristiques cliniques
The first symptoms of AON start between the age of 7.5 and 9 years. The symptoms are weakening, unsteady hind limbs and uncoordinated movement. This disease eventually progresses into the front limbs, and may ultimately result in an inability to walk. The late-stage disease can also cause difficulty in swallowing.
